Initial Planning Meeting recap!
We had an excellent meeting this past Tuesday night in downtown Elizabeth City. Seeing everyone's enthusiasm and feeling their energy was fantastic! We had a great session of brainstorming, planning, and hearing everyone's ideas to make NENC PrideFest 2019 even bigger and better than last year's event.
First of all, we agreed that while we eventually do want to make the organization into a 501(c)3 registered nonprofit, that should probably be more of a 5-year goal for us due to the complicated process and expense of that particular legal structure. We will move forward with filing as an LLC for now, with a volunteer board of directors for leadership. We will introduce the board soon in a separate blog post - we are all thrilled to serve as leadership for this event!
Our tentative date for this year's event is Saturday, June 29 from 3-8pm. The date still needs to be approved by the Elizabeth City city manager, however, so pencil it in on your calendar for now!
There are lots of plans in the works for this year's PrideFest, for some of which we still need to nail down the details. We can't reveal too much of that yet, but don't worry - it will all be announced as soon as we have the details. We think that everyone will be happy with the new activities and ideas that we have in store for you! We will still have the great small-town family atmosphere and fun activities that everyone loved from last year, plus so much more. Live music? Performers? Boats?? Sssshhhh... all will be revealed soon!
If you are interested in being a vendor, volunteer, or sponsor for this year's event, please fill out the interest form on our home page - this will ensure that we have your contact info and can let you know the moment we have the final details for our vendor fees and sponsorship packages. We think you will be pleased with the sponsorship opportunities we will have for our local business owners and donors this year!
Finally, please put Tuesday, February 26 on your calendar - we will hold our next planning meeting that evening at 6:30pm at The Mills Downtown Bistro. You can RSVP and get more details on our Facebook event page here! The planning meetings are open to everyone who wants to help brainstorm, network, plan, and volunteer for PrideFest 2019. We look forward to seeing you there - stay tuned for more developments soon!
